A Little Mid-Week Revelry

Like no other place in America, Louisiana has a distinctive culture that is deeply rooted in food, music and frivolity, and the center of this culture is New Orleans.  There are few places that carry on tradition with such flamboyancy and persistence.  Hedonistic?  Perhaps.  Crazy?  A little.  Fun?  Absolutely.  Where else can you find a cookbook with the title,  "Who's Your Mama, Are You Catholic, and Can You Make a Roux?"  Through good times and bad, New Orleans is a place that keeps it's sense of humor.

Tuesday, February 21st, is Mardi Gras.  Bring a little New Orleans revelry into your home with  a few classic Cajun dishes and ice cold Abita beer.   Read the foodell article about the history of North America's largest Mardi Gras celebration, and let the good times roll!

I love the stories that many chefs tell about...
Valentine Dinner Menus

Power, love and martyrdom.  That's what led to the celebration of St. Valentine's Day.  Since the Middle Ages couples have been exchanging Valentine's greetings and expressing their love each February 14th.  (Although I think the little candy hearts came later.)

Celebrate your love this Valentine's Day with a home-cooked meal.  What better way to say you care?  We have some  delicious Valentine's menu ideas to get you started on making the evening truly special.  Whether your sweetheart likes lamb or loves fish, these  dinner menus won't take hours to prepare.  You can also  read the rest of the story about the origins of Valentine's Day.  It's a sad lover's tale, but one that gives us an annual excuse to celebrate love and eat chocolate.  I guess it's not so sad after all.
